RICON was created to provide a forum for discussing the state of distributed systems. The science and engineering around distributed systems is rapidly evolving and RICON stands as a reflection of the collective choices we've made, systems we've deployed, and hurdles we've overcome. Not all of our choices were correct, and not all of our systems meet all expectations.
As the date for RICON East approaches (we're almost one month away) there are a few deadlines and updates we wanted to share with you.
Discounts on Hotels
If you will be traveling to NYC to attend RICON East, we have made arrangements with two hotels nearby the venue. As NYC is far from the cheapest city around, this added savings will go a long way. If you will be needing a hotel for RICON, today is the last day to qualify for the discounted room block, so order fast.
tl;dr - The future of Riak and Riak CS will be a significant component of RICON East this May. Grab a ticket before they sell out. This will be the best conference you go to all year.
Later this week we will have the full lineup of RICON East Speakers announced. The talks from Basho's engineers are just about official. Here's the complete rundown of what they will be talking about and why you should be in attendance:
We're pleased to announce that Shawn Gravelle and Sam Townsend of State Farm Insurance will be joining the speaker's lineup at RICON East. Shawn and Sam will discuss how Riak satisfied their business requirements and elaborate on how they integrated it with their existing systems. Further talk details will be announced shortly.
